Each week around 100 people seeking asylum, people who are destitute or those with leave to remain and in need of support, come to the Welcome Centre for food, advice, friendship and more. For about 17% of these people this is the only hot meal they will have in the week.
The cooked meal along with the food bags (about 18 per week) and access to bus tickets for those most in need, help to reduce the impact of poverty and destitution for asylum seekers and refugees in Bristol.
A designated space is kept for families to eat together where young children can play and parents can exchange experiences and support from each other, volunteers and staff.
